Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the simulation of human intelligence by using computer systems.

Recommendation Systems and Chat Bots

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the simulation of human intelligence by using computer systems. These processes include learning, reasoning and self-correction. Particular applications of AI include expert systems, speech detection and recognition and machine vision.

AI can either be of a weak or strong categorization. Weak AI or Narrow AI, is an AI system that is designed and trained for a particular task, such as Apple’s Siri. Strong AI or Artificial General Intelligence, is an AI system with generalized human cognitive abilities, that if presented with an unfamiliar task is able to solve the problem without human intervention and get the task done.

While AI presents a range of new and uncharted functionality for businesses, the use of artificial intelligence raises ethical questions, due to the data that is given to an AI for training. Because, the data is selected by humans, the potential for human bias is inherent and must be monitored closely.

Types of Artificial Intelligence:

Reactive Machines: An example of which is Deep Blue, the IBM chess program that beat Garry Kasparov in the 1990s. Deep Blue can identify pieces on the chess board and make predictions. It analyzes possible and chooses the most strategic move.

Limited Memory Machines: These AI systems can use past experiences to inform future decisions. These observations of past experiences are not stored permanently.
